Bathurst Base Hospital
We can deliver to most hospitals in and around
Bathurst. We will endeavour to have your hospital flowers delivered but some hospitals have strict policies about flower and gift basket deliveries. Check with the hospital before sending flowers to ensure they can be delivered. Many patients recovering from surgery, seriously ill or in ICU cannot receive flowers and gifts. Alternatively,
we can arrange for delivery to the recipients home when they are discharged from hospital.
The regional city of Bathurst is located in New South Wales, in what’s known as the Central Tablelands. Approximately 200 kilometres away from Sydney, the capital city of the state, Bathurst had a population of over 36,000 people as of 2015.
Known by many as the ‘Gold Country’, the very first Australian gold rush occurred in Bathurst, solidifying its significant place in the nation’s history. Naturally, tourism is a huge fuel for the local economy, as travellers arrive from all over Australia to visit Bathurst and explore the history its preserved, as well as to admire a few of its modern attractions.
A myriad of manmade landmarks exist in Bathurst, including historical monuments, 19th-century buildings and other relics from a truly fascinating past. Travellers to the city often find that although there are plenty of commercial areas to visit, it’s simply enough to wander the streets and discover the array of structures which have attached to them great historical significance.
Kings Parade, which now serves as a city square, is popular amongst tourists as well as locals who are looking for a reflective place to sit in the fresh air. The area operated as a market from the 1800s to the early 1900s, and now houses three memorials for Australian soldiers. An open park, perfect for picnics, also makes up part of Kings Parade, in addition to the manicured gardens.
Despite its many historical landmarks, Bathurst is most famous for hosting the motor racing circuit known as Mount Panorama, where the Bathurst 12 Hour race is held once a year in February, and the Bathurst 1000 race in October. During these periods, tourists arrive from all over the country and even from abroad to witness the iconic races and be a part of a strong motor-racing culture. When there are no races on, many visitors enjoy heading to the site of the circuit and knowing that they’re witnessing such a famous location. The number of spectators each year continues to reach impressive heights, with roughly 194,000 people attending the race in 2006.
The National Motor Racing Museum is situated next to the circuit, and contains collections of cars and motorcycles, which help tell the story of racing in Bathurst, from the 1900s until the present day. The Bathurst Motor Festival is also held annually at Easter time.
